Classic Carved Candles
Our family first began making our hand-crafted refillable candles in 1985. Moving to the North Carolina High Country in 1994, we opened our candle shop in historic downtown Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
In crafting our classic carved candles, we first begin by making a solid core of translucent wax, which is hand-poured into a mold. This wax is a parafin of exceptional quality with a very high melting point. After the core has hardened, we add liquid waxes to it to create the beautiful colors. This process takes about 3 minutes to complete.
While the added wax is still maleable, we can work with it, using knives and carving tools to create the intricate ribbons and cuts. Usually we have about 6 to 8 minutes to complete the carving. After this the wax is no longer workable. We then glaze the candle with an acrylic which adds a beautiful gloss; it also protects it from exterior heat and makes it easy to dust. We hope you enjoy using your candle for many years!
These classic carved candles are what we first began making almost 25 years ago! They are unique in that they burn down the middle core, without losing any of he beautiful hand-carved design.
As the candle burns, it is illuminated from within, creating small windows of light, almost like a stained glass effect!

After the candle has burned about 2 to 3 inches inside itself, use your candle as a candle-holder. Simply add tea-lights, votives, or small pieces of dinner tapers to refill your original candle.
